Pheonix Leadership Programme 26th January 2015 – 30th January 2015

The Merseyside phoenix Leadership Programme is a positive action initiative targeting 18+ year olds who possess one or more of the ‘protected characteristics’ under the Equality Act 2010. The aims of the programme are as follows;

To support the short to medium term Positive Action Strategy for recruitment by increasing applications from protected groups to join Merseyside Police, either as a special constable or regular officer.

To build leadership skills and confidence.

To assist people to become effective leaders in their communities.

To build positive links between the police and minority communities.

To support the Government’s vision for increased community engagement with hard to reach groups.

The programme seeks to build leadership skills and confidence through the following activities:

Developing effective communication skills.

Learning how to prepare and deliver effective presentations.

Effective team working to complete research and prepare projects.

Understanding how to use conflict resolution strategies in resolving disputes.

Taking part in a work experience day shadowing a professional host within Merseyside Police.

Role Model input with senior professionals from minority groups within the public/private sectors.
