‘Love not Hate’: Taking a stand against hate crime this Valentine’s Day

‘Love not Hate’ is a campaign centred around Valentine’s Day designed to increase awareness of hate crime and encourage people to come forward to report incidents of hate and abuse, either to Merseyside Police or to the charity Stop Hate UK. The charity were funded by Merseyside’s Police Commissioner to deliver a 24/7 independent helpline across Merseyside last May.

The awareness-raising campaign is also designed to make victims aware of the existence of third party reporting centres, where individuals can be helped to report a hate crime to Stop Hate UK in a safe and secure environment and increase recognition of the third party reporting centre logo

The campaign commences on Friday 13th January with a launch event at Liverpool’s Central Library. The library has pledged to join more than 70 other venues and organisations across Merseyside in becoming a third party reporting centre.
The event will bring together more than 65 people, including victims of hate crime, those who work for charities and organisations that work to tackle hate crime, as well as representatives from existing third party reporting centres and centres that are considering joining the initiative.
